Day 8 started off hectic. I thought I was going to be late to Mosaic and was in a rush to quickly drive myself over to San Jose. The day remained in high pace as deadlines were approaching for our main story ideas.
Luckily, I did not arrive late and had time to eat my daily bagel with the rest of the Mosaicsters, which I look forward to every day. We had a fun conversation and laughed a lot, which helped start my day off on the right foot.
After breakfast, we were told that today would be a full workday so that we would be able to file our stories by noon, so we did not have a guest speaker. It was the first day I felt the high intensity workplace that everyone in journalism always describes.
All day I could hear the sound of typing on keyboards as we all tried to finish up our last few sentences. I had most of my interviews scheduled the day of the deadline, which made me all the more nervous.
To change up the scenery, I decided to take my two interviews outside, and ended up spending most of the day there in order to focus on my work without distractions. Both my interviews went really well, and it was fun to be able to talk with a source I used to regularly talk to. While I wasn’t able to meet the deadline, I was able to finally get all the information I needed and am very close to finishing up my first complete draft.
I’m expecting tomorrow to be a similar fast-paced workday but for now, I am happy with all that I was able to do, and happy to get a break until tomorrow.
