Day Eight: A musical experience

Today marks the beginning of the second week of Mosaic. Last week, we came in not exactly knowing what to expect — now, we all have projects that we’re working on.

Paulo and I went to an event today to try and get more intel on what libraries are doing to get more people to attend. At the event, called “Music In The Library,” the performance featured two really nice ladies who call themselves The Lady Fingers. The music that they played was really beautiful. I was surprised because the flyer only said they were going to play the guitar (the genre of music was not included in the description), but it was a very pleasant surprise. They played a mix of Cuban, Brazilian, Russian, Greek and Spanish songs. I had never heard anything like it — the whole experience was really fun. Paulo and I found ourselves searching for the genre of music that Melody and Eugenia played because we enjoyed it that much.

On our way back to the newsroom, we bumped into Julie, Abel and Janet. They were on their way to lunch and asked us to join them for sushi. I’d never eaten sushi before, so I was very hesitant to accept the invite, but I figured it would be a cool new experience. It was good, I’d eat it again, but I wouldn’t choose it over tacos.
