Day Nine: Powering through the long days

Updated: Jun 21, 2019

By Ruth A. Rodriguez, June 18, 2019

Today was very stressful, but only because I had to finish captions for assignments that had barely come in. A last minute photoshoot happened the day before, so I had to rush into captioning those photos. Sadly, I wish I’d done a better job of focusing on my models’ faces so I didn’t have to retake photos.

In the afternoon, I headed out to lunch with Camille to get Panda Express. I mistakenly left my wallet at home and had to ask for money, but I said I would pay her back. Things weren’t looking so good for me today. Soon enough, I got my fortune cookie and it said, “Something good will come without returns.”

My day continued to be stressful both at Mosaic and at home. Everything seemed sad, but it wasn’t terrible. When Josie came in, she helped me with captions. I’ve never been great at writing captions, so I got lots of corrections. I wasn’t there when we had our lesson on creating captions, so I never properly learned. Josie then taught me that a caption needs the “five Ws and one H.”

At the end of the day, I finished up my captions and felt satisfied. I was still stressed from all the work that needed to be done, but I finished and felt very accomplished.
