World Cup 2026

Soccer fans crowded downtown San Jose watch parties and filled Levi’s Stadium’s early this summer for World Cup mania, and Mosaic journalists were there to capture the excitement that drew over 1 million people to the Silicon Valley.

 

Photographers Haley Lillibridge and Kaitan Pawar depicted the electric mood at San Pedro Square where overflow crowds watched game broadcasts on huge screens in downtown San Jose.

 

Reporter Ekasha Sikka and photographer J.R. McMinn interviewed light rail riders enroute to World Cup action in Santa Clara, illustrating how local transit lines recorded their highest ridership ever.
